The closest major airport to Cannes is Nice Côte d’Azur, located 24 kilometres away. It is the second largest airport in France, with more than 8 million passengers travelling through it each year (of which 49% are from overseas.) 45 airlines make 82 direct connections to 27 countries worldwide and operate a large number of daily flights to and from 30 other French cities. British Airways, Bmi, Flyglobespan, Jet2 and easyJet all fly there from the UK. There are regular buses from Nice aiport to Cannes. The journey takes roughly 30 minutes, depending on traffic. SNCF regional train services run from Gare Nice St Augustin, situated 500 metres from Terminal 1, serving all routes from Cannes to Vintimille. Taxis are plentiful but expensive (about €60 one-way).
Once you’re in Cannes itself, walking is probably the best way to get around, since the city is fairly compact and has a complex one-way system, which leads to lots of traffic jams.
