A handsome Belle Époque property, dating from 1911, Carlton Intercontinental is a landmark hotel looking out over La Croisette and the Bay of Cannes. The magnificent lobby is appointed in marble, with a plush seating area. The 305 guestrooms are airy and opulent. All are clean and immaculately maintained, as are the en suite bathrooms decorated in grand luxe style. Standard rooms have a mountain view. The more spacious rooms on the upper floors open out onto waterfront balconies, but are significantly pricier. The hotel offers a wealth of dining options. Situated on the ground floor, with sea views and neo-colonial décor, the “Brasserie Carlton” brings together the best aspects of a traditional French café and a fine gourmet restaurant. The “Carlton Beach Restaurant” lures locals, hotel guests, shoppers and celebrities onto the bay-view terrace for lunch. On the Provençal buffet is a sumptuous presentation of fresh local vegetables and traditional French specialties including pissaladières (pizza-like tarts). An equally tempting à la carte menu is also offered. With a nod to the many stars who gather there during the Cannes Film Festival, “Bar des Célébrités” – also on the ground floor – creates an elegant atmosphere for enjoying cocktails and conversation. On Friday and Saturday evenings, live jazz fills the air as guests wander out to the Carlton Terrace to savour unrivalled views of the bay. And last but not least, when the occasion calls for a low-key, more intimate setting, the “Petit Bar” located right off the lobby is a perfect choice.
