Opened in 1871, the Splendid Hotel boasts an ornate white façade adorned with wrought iron balconies. The lobby is compact, with a cosy salon to the left and a dark wood reception desk to the right. Varying in size from medium to large, the 62 guestrooms are enhanced by antique furniture and paintings and original cast iron radiators. Their harmonious blend of old and new is evident in the way the televisions are cleverly masked by mirrors. About 15 of the rooms have kitchenettes. All the rooms are clean and well maintained, as are the en suite bathrooms with tub/shower combinations. The first floor breakfast room is decorated in a blue and yellow colour scheme that lends it a homely atmosphere. It opens up onto a charming terrace facing the old port, where breakfast can be taken in the warmer months.
